Hard Day's Night 13th Sep 2009
After a long and very hard weekend The Velvetines have finished recording the first two tracks on their as yet untitled self-produced album. Best of You and My Song (aka I Believe) form a good start to the project and the band are already looking forward to the next sessions. They seem to be quite at home working in the studio, where subtle moments in songs are able to be played with and perfected and creativity is not restricted to the sounds coming from an instrument. The band wish to thank their tireless engineer, Rob Harrison, whose commitment to achieving the right sound for these songs is hugely appreciated, leaving the band stunned by how much energy he had left at 01:30 on a Monday morning. After some post-production these tracks will be uploaded for your listening pleasure and will also shortly be offered on iTunes.

Gearing up for the first round of recording 26th Aug 2009
The Velvetines have been hard at work finishing off the first two songs to be recorded as part of their as yet untitled self-produced album. The songs are called "Best of You" and "I Believe". Recording is booked at a top London studio for the weekend of the 12th and 13th September. The band hopes to have at least four songs recorded by the end of the year so that an EP can be packaged, for their fans to have a little sniff of the album to be released towards the middle of next year. There's a lot of excitement at rehearsals and everyone is really anxious to hear what these songs, to date the band's favourite two tracks, will sound like on disc. Be sure to have a listen and let the band know what you think!

All hail Zahir 16th Jun 2009
After many months of searching, the Velvetines have found the bass-player they were looking for in the unmistakably talented Zahir Ali. The band have been writing profusely and have already booked an opening gig for the 21st July at 93 Feet East, Brick Lane – check out the Gigs section for more details. It promises to be quite a stomper as there has been no stage activity from the band for well on 8 months now and all are chomping at the bit to get a live performance out there and show off some of the new material. The band hopes to build on this slight change in direction and are also making plans to record a new demo for distribution at the end of the summer.

Of course, if you want to share your thoughts about the new pages send an e-mail in the Contact section. Also, keep checking the upcoming gigs. Velvetines seek new bass player 10th Mar 2009
Due to uncontrollable and pretty darn unfortunate circumstances, Dannii Reay, the Velvetines bassist of nigh on a year now has had to leave the band. His unrelenting energy on stage will be sorely missed. As you might have guessed, the band is now on the look out for a replacement. Auditions are already underway and as soon as a decision is made, the first gigs will be booked. If you consider yourself a pretty good swinger of the four string axe, or if you know of someone else who is, send a message through the Contacts section and come in and have a jam!
